The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Guide for a Fresh, Calm, Clean Home

Updated: Feb 12

Ready to shake off the winter funk and actually enjoy being in your space again?

Spring cleaning isn't just about scrubbing baseboards. It's about clearing out mental clutter, refreshing your environment, and making your home feel clean, light, and intentional again.

These practical spring cleaning tips will help you reset your space and your energy without needing a full week off work or a breakdown halfway through.

Declutter First, Clean Second

Cleaning around things you don't need is just rearranging stress.

Go room by room and sort items into three categories: keep, donate, or toss. Be ruthless. The moment the clutter is gone, your home already feels 50% cleaner.

Once a space is clear, enhance that fresh-start feeling with a clean, layered scent. A light soy candle or wax melt instantly makes the room feel open again. White Tea works beautifully for this clean, airy feeling.

Refresh Your Home’s Scent

A home that looks clean is nice. A home that smells clean is a different level of peace.

Simple upgrades can make a big difference. Swap artificial air fresheners for soy candles or wax melts made with clean ingredients. Open windows daily to push out stale winter air. Use room and linen sprays on curtains, bedding, and upholstery.

If your space still smells heavy or dull after cleaning, it's usually not the floors. It's the air.

Deep Clean High-Traffic Areas

Skip the areas that "look fine." Hit the ones that actually matter.

In the kitchen, wipe down cabinets, clear expired pantry items, and freshen your sink and disposal with lemon. In the bathroom, swap out old towels, clean grout and tile, and replace cluttered products with a few intentional ones. In the living room, vacuum under furniture, wipe baseboards, and pack away heavy winter blankets.

Pro tip: add a fresh, light scent while cleaning. It makes the process less miserable and the result more noticeable.

Create a Cozy, Inviting Atmosphere

Spring cleaning isn't only about "clean." It's about how the space makes you feel when you sit down.

Small changes have big impact. Swap heavy textures for lighter throws. Let more natural light in. Add one plant or bouquet. Light a soft, clean candle as your finishing touch.

Scents like lavender, linen, citrus, and light florals enhance that calm, refreshed energy. When in season, the Spring Collection is designed specifically for this moment.

Refresh Your Routine Along with Your Home

The real win isn't just a clean house. It's keeping it that way without hating your life.

Simple resets make a difference. Spend 10 minutes decluttering daily. Light a candle every evening as your wind-down signal. Play music while you clean so it feels less like punishment.

Your home should feel like a place you want to be, not a place that constantly needs fixing.

Spring Cleaning Survival Checklist

Decluttering: Start with one room. Keep, donate, toss. Be ruthless. Organize as you go.

Deep Cleaning: Wipe cabinets. Clean fridge. Freshen the sink. Scrub grout. Vacuum under furniture.

Scent Reset: Open windows. Light a soy candle. Spray fabrics.

Atmosphere Reset: Swap heavy blankets. Add a plant. Use layered lighting.

Routine Reset: Set a 10-minute daily reset. End the day with a calming scent. Reward yourself when finished.

Thank You, Kayla!! Even if it’s one or two things from this list—that’s all that matters. But go ahead and do the final box after, even if you only complete two—we all need to be rewarded for hard work! 🫶🏻

Thanks so much for the guide and checklist. This will definitely come in handy. Can’t agree with you more to declutter first especially closets, basements, spare rooms, etc. We we tend to hang onto too much. So for me, it’s time to purge and donate for items. I haven’t used in a while.

Patrick and I had a walk-in closet that we had just stored EVERYTHING in—it’s refreshing to know it’s not a mess anymore. It was SOOO BAD—you couldn’t even get in the door.

I’ve been putting off cleaning my kitchen cabinets, my linen closet and my spare bedroom which has become a chaotic catch all! Definitely the push I need to get it done!

I LOVE a good clean at the beginning of the new year! I open the windows, make big piles of washing, clearing out closets/cabinets, and really putting in some elbow grease to clean everything. I haven’t gotten to it this year, but I think I’ll use your tip to get some flowers or a couple of plants to liven up my spaces.

My absolute favorite spring fragrance this year is Black Lavender, and Berry Blossoms is a close second!
