Trimming your wick before lighting your candle is essential for maintaining a healthy burning candle.
My soy candles are made with "self-trimming" wicks; they can easily be pinched off 1/4" from the surface wax. I recommend using a tissue to avoid soot on your fingers.

Before receiving this wick trimmer I was using scissors, which was fine, but I love how the wick trimmer catches the piece of wick that is being cut off which makes for easy cleanup! It also looks way nicer sitting next to my candle and matches any decor. I had to hide the scissors in a drawer >.< The wick trimmer is sturdy and nicely made and may be the only one I ever need to purchase. Glad I ended up with 2 (one for upstairs and one for downstairs) bc they are both definitely used daily!
