Three Wax Melt Habits That Are Wasting Your Money

Updated: 2 days ago

Nobody told me any of this when I got my first wax welts. Everything I've learned was after I started making melts myself and from answering questions my customers had been asking.

So here are three habits that are probably costing you more than you realize.

You're probably filling the dish too full.

Start with two or three cubes. Just enough to cover the bottom. That's all.

I know it feels like more wax means more scent. It doesn't. It just means you're burning through product faster than you need to, which means you're spending more money than you need to.

More wax in the dish does not make your house smell better. It just makes the melt go faster.

You're adding fresh wax on top of used wax.

When the scent is gone, the wax has done its job. At that point you need to remove it completely before you add anything new.

Placing fresh cubes on top of old wax is like topping off a glass of soda that's already full of watered down ice. You're not refreshing it. You're just diluting the new stuff before it even has a chance to perform. You'll never get full scent throw out of it. Start clean every time.

You're leaving your warmer running all day.

This one is a safety thing before it's a money thing first, but it's still both.

Wax melts work fast. 10 to 15 minutes and your space will already begin to smell wonderful. You do not need to leave it on while you're at work or while you're sleeping. It's not doing you any good during those times. It's just sitting there... wasting away.

If you can find a warmer with a built-in timer, I can recommended getting one more. It takes the decision out of your hands entirely. Set it for 3-9 hours and forget it.

Those three things alone will improve the performance of your melts. That's it. And honestly it's the difference between your wax melts lasting two weeks versus two months.
